Hi, I have been going to Bocabar for many years and always eat the same pizza. Its lovely. Its also the most expensive one on the menu.

Friday I went straight from work, ordered the same (again, and it came without the 3 large black tiger prawns that have are always there / in their shells). I asked why and the waitress replied that they had ran out, I explained that I hadn't been informed prior to ordering. She went away and spoke to the manageress and came back letting me know I was given the same amount of prawns.

This wasn't the point, it hadn't come as purchased, as it always had or as it was described in the menu. I asked for a rufund and finally the manageress came over and decided to address it. She offered me a 10% reduction. £1.50 off of a £14.99 pizza. The thing is you don't go there to have value for money, but because they are a real treat. This was no longer a real treat for me so declined and again asked for a refund.

To this she refused and stated it was the same, I had to reply again and state that not only do I order the same thing every time and know exactly how it comes, and also needed to explain that if I went to sainsburys they wouldn't be sold as the same thing. She relented in a dismissive and rude manor. I followed her over to the bar to get my refund where she had an audience of around 6 staff discussing what had happened with me and showing the pizza off. It was really embarassing, it was as if I was to be shamed as I left.

The customer service within this establishment on this occasion was absolutely awful, and so unprofessional. I underside that you would offload to colleagues, but you wait until the customer has atleast left.
Really disgusted that this is acceptable behaviour within this establishment.

Truely unbelieveable service.

What a wicked place! A regular haunt for us and our 2 year old in the day time. Everyone including the staff are pretty friendly and laid back. Have had a couple of small parties here with up to 15 friends plus kids, and because of the amount of space you can really relax and let your hair down without feeling like you're intruding on others or overstaying your welcome. A great combo of good booze, space, art, music, food and good vibes!

Great place and fantastic pizzas! Love the atmosphere in Bocabar - especially at weekends with their eclectic bands and DJs. Also has an excellent range of beers and ciders - many sourced from the surrounding counties. Highly recommended!

DISAPPOINTED!!!!!I have been to Bocabar several times with friends for drinks and have really enjoyed it, the atmosphere is nice and the building beautiful.However- I would never again order food from here after my recent experience. Myself and three friends arrived at 9pm in order to grab some food before a cinema showing at 1015pm. We ordered a pizza each (not cheap at approximately £12 each), and when ordering told the barman hat we were on a timescale and would this be a problem, which he replied by saying it wouldn't be.After approximately 45 minutes wait we still had not received food, so I went to enquire. The man I spoke to, whom I assume was the manager was rude and abrupt, with no attempt at hospitality. When I asked where our food was he said the pizzas had 'just gone in the oven'- I respnded by saying that we had been waiting for 45 mins, he said 'we do have other customers you know', I advised that this was not the point and that we had said when ordering that we were on a deadline. I asked the manager what he could do for us in order to rectify the situation- he said he would refund- which I accepted. When the pizzas arrived it was clear the waitress had heard of our complaint as she said not a word but plonked the plates down, and practically threw our napkins onto the table. My advice: this place is fine for drinks with friends, but stay well away for food unless you have all day/night to wait!

A bar, a restaurant, an art gallery, and now a place to buy antiques! This is my second time at Bocabar and I'm delighted to write a reivew because i love the place. We arrived quite late and had a really good gourmet pizza and cocktails. And ended up buying a cast iron cow that had been salvaged from somewhere in Somerset! A great experience for a different kind of place. Highly recommended!

My first time in Bristol just before Christmas also brought me to Bocabar. If this place is anything to go by, then I'd happily come back to Bristol (and Bocabar) many times. It's a great space with a laid back yet buzzing atmosphere. We very much enjoyed dinner with a large group of friends at a long table in the dining area, but the large bar space was also great. Definitely a place to have fun at both with larger and smaller groups of friends. I liked the versatility - you could just have a drink, enjoy a smaller bite to eat (didn't have one but the pizzas looked appealing), or go for a full meal.

friendly vibrant place to visit. we have been visiting Bocabar since it opened.we go as a family regularly, as a couple and as a group of friends...sometimes weekly...We have been at breakfast time, lunch time and evenings and find the food excellent. by the law of averages, therefore,we have occassionally experienced a longer than usual wait for food, but have always been offered a free portion or a drink etc.
we have also been interested in and supporting their newly opened art gallery area.

Quite possibly the worst Sunday Roast I have ever experienced, went there Sunday (23/1/2011) paid £12.50 for a Roast Beef Lunch which came out more fat than beef, lukewarm on cold plates and 1 tray of veg between 5. When I complained the waitress she passed on the message to the chef who just said "thats how the beef should be". On complaining to the Manager he said sorry but just did not seem interested in anything I had to say. A truly shocking experience, I will never eat there again and I truly advise you not to either.

I think you were a little harsh on your reveiw. i have eaten there many of times and thought the food was great especially the roasts, i have found the customers a little fussy maybe you are one of them!!! I am also fed up with negative feedback on restaurants the chefs work so hard as i was once a hardworking chef and bad feedback can really harm a buisness if you take note of harmful feedbacks.. i truly advise you to come to bocabar and judge for yourself not listen to sad people that write bad reveiws.. There i think i have made my point..

I used to go to Bocabar often as its the best bar locally. However. Visited a couple of weeks ago for Sunday lunch with hubby and 2 year old daughter. We ordered the beef roast and paid £12 ish each for adults and around £5 for the childrens version. Shocking is all I can say really. £30 for Sunday lunch (plus the drinks!) for a couple of wafer thin slices of over cooked roast beef, 2 roast potatoes, a yorkshire pud that was like a fairy cake and a small dish of veg to share between the 3 of us! On a plus side the service was surprisingly quick. But miserable! Cant say Im going to bother again. Do you think boca looks at these reviews?

Hello. We've just read your review and want to say sorry for the negative experience you had. We ate on the same day as you and were also not impressed by the quality of the food. We have discussed this with the chef and believe that things will be back to our usual standard this coming weekend. We'd like to offer you and your family a complimentary Sunday lunch so that we can show you this was just a very unfortunate blip and that we really do value your custom. Please email us your contact details at [email protected]
