Trek-man
23 December 2009, four of us went to eat at Giraffe for the first time. They have a rule that only one Invitation card can be used per table although we were two couples, each with their own card. Nachos for two, bruschetta and "chicken potstickers" starters were ok, my "chicken potstickers" were quite tasty. However, the main courses averaging about £9.00 up to £14 for the steak failed to impress! The "portuguese" half a chicken was bland to say the least, a flattened roasted half chicken on the plate, a small handful of fries, about a dessert spoonful of coleslaw on a modestly sized lettuce leaf. Staff member asked if all was ok, I commented on the small portion of chips and was asked would I like a separate portion (at exta cost of course).
With a bottle of wine, a beer and a soft drink we spent over £90 and were unanimously agreed it was not good value for money. I commented so to a staff member when paying the bill - I was asked had all been ok. I was asked what did I have, I replied the half a chicken and to my surprise the staff member sympathised with my views! (another member of staff had been apologetic earlier when confirming that it was £1 each for any extra toppings with the burger, eg mushrooms, grated beetroot etc!). We go out to eat regularly and I spent £90 at another Bristol restaurant recently (which I can't name here because it might be "advertising". And was wholly impressed. We would not go back here, there are plenty of restaurants where we feel we can get much better value for money.
