Holymoley
Went this evening to the Mexican kitchen. I had read good reviews about it in Clifton Life magazine and on this site. Reading Clifton Life, I was under the impression it was a restaurant with takeaway, but upon arriving realised it was a "fast food takeaway" with seating! I ordered a Beef Taco while my husband ordered a Beef Burrito and as they were preparing in front of us, we realised that the portions were not going to be filling. I had 2 tacos which were about 15cm in diameter each, consisted of 6 pinto beans, 6 small hunks of beef, a small serving of refried bean yoghurt and mild salsa for £5.30. My husband's was more fully loaded though, but in fear of leaving hungry, ordered some tortilla chips and salsa. To be fair, the taste was great, if not a bit on the cool side (probably because everything is stored in metal containers under a heater). I would say The Mexican Kitchen is great for passing lunch trade, but not for an evening out (maybe a bit naive of myself to realise that this is nothing more than a British equivelent of Taco Bell)! I have no doubt that the taste and quality of meat was great, but more than anything, the prices need to be lowered or the portion sizes increased.
