This is such a lovely pub but unfortunately the food can be poor in quality. They really shouldn't microwave the apple pie it was really awful.

The carvery isn't too bad but could be improved upon as the yorkshire puddings are too large and do not taste good and veg is either overcooked or undercooked. I've tried at least three different desserts and none of them were very good.

I would say considering the pub itself is so nice the food is poor and overpriced for the quality.

Staff are polite and friendly but please, please try and improve your food!

Dreadful, in fact inedible, food. No service. We had to wait ages for the meal to arrive and should have been alerted to the fact that the experience was likely to be poor because the place was empty on a Saturday night. The staff were inexperienced and devoid of any customer service skills. The wine list lacked anything of quality and the staff didn't arrive to take an order anyway so perhaps we were spared an undrinkable wine on top of an inedible meal. We left hungry and disappointed. There was no apology despite the fact that we politely drew attention to the fact that the food was so poor. We paid in full and would not have expeted anything less but an apology might have been nice.

An experience I do not wish to repeat!

Called in for Sunday Carvery. Friendly welcoming bar staff.

Table was dirty - lots of glass rings not been wiped away; side plate marked and streaked.

Carvery well loaded with meat and vegetables - but then the problems started. Broccoli was so undercooked I could not cut it. Yorkshire puddings were large and could have been mistaken for a large bread roll - all doughy and very tough (not crisp). Other veg was 'adequate'.

Mother in law (79yrs) asked for one piece of meat in case she couldn't manage it - when we asked for another small piece we were refused bluntly and told "It's a carvery not a buffet - you need to buy another ticket for more meat" (£8.45 for one slice of meat seems a little over the top!)

When mention was made of the lack of quality of the vegetables no one bothered.

Not an experience we will be repeating - what a shame as this a lovely pub otherwise.
