Absolutely delicious food, beautiful old restaurant and friendly, informative staff. Extremely reasonable prices considering everything is cooked to order from scratch. The toilets are outside (what do you expect when indoor plumbing wasn't the norm 200yrs ago!) and a bit nippy, but perfectly clean. Highly recommend.

Following a family funeral we attended a buffet at this restaurant. The venue was quaint and the atmosphere friendly, ideal for this type of gathering. The food was very good, well presented, fresh and home made which is often hard to find in restaurants today. The staff were friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We would definately recommend this place.

Tonight was the second night out at this restaurant and while the first was mediocre with a sprinkling of charm from the owner the second was diabolical. The waitress had as much charm as a plank of wood and was clearly out of her depth in a less than half full restaurant. The starters arrived on cold plates and were experimental to say the least; and they were the highpoint. While the waitress was conscientious enough to read back our order the mains arrived and were not only wrong but some were inedible/clearly off. There was no apology for this and two members of our party were left to wait for new food and were even charged more for the privilege. As a side, the toilets were unclean and waiting staff were seen leaving the toilets having not washed their hands. To top it all off the head chef/owner's wife was seen sat on a step outside the kitchen smoking a cigarette in her apron!
