We came across the Hop House by accident but ended up having a top night. We were on a ladies night out in Clifton and got drawn to it by music from an awesome live band that were playing, think they were called Freeze.

The place was packed, very lively and very friendly. It was a real surprise because everywhere else in Clifton was a bit too laid back for a Friday night and we were on the verge of moving on somewhere else. The drinks were reasonably priced for Clifton, the decor really nice and modern, but the vibe was superb. I asked one of the busy bar staff if it was always like this on a Friday, she said it was much livelier because of the band playing, apparently they were local and brought lots of people with them. Getting drinks took a while, but considering how busy it was not surprising. Despite the party atmosphere, it was nice not to feel intimidated, and they didn't even have any door staff, not that they needed them.

We have since been back for lunch and although a little bit quieter, the atmosphere was great. The food was fab too, and good value for money.

Would definitely recommend giving it a go on Friday live music nights, especially if you catch the same band as we did, they had the place absolutely rocking.

Didn't have anything planned and ended up having a great night at the Hophouse drinking good beer and enjoying Salsa music performed by a fantastic band called K'Chevere. Thanks to all involved in creating such a good atmosphere. Will definitely return.

I've been coming here for years, the real ale is beautifully kept. A fine old pub.
